FAMILY GUIDANCE & OUTREACH CENTER of LUBBOCK is dedicated to strengthening family life and preventing child abuse and neglect. In response to the increasing number of child abuse and neglect cases being reported in our area, FAMILY GUIDANCE & OUTREACH CENTER of LUBBOCK opened in May 1981. Since then, hundreds of families have been helped through the assistance of caring, trained volunteers working one-on-one or through special programs for children and parents.

The following are a few ways Family Guidance & Outreach works with their families:

Family Guidance & Outreach Center Programs

*Anger Wranglers Anger Management
A 5-part course for children ages 7, 8 & 9
presented in thirty-minute sessions to small groups of 7-10 children.
Kids learn positive ways to control anger through discussion, role play, and crafts.

K.I.D.S. (Knowledge In Divorce Situations)
Court-ordered parenting class for adults involved in divorce or custody cases.
First Tuesday of every month from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.  ($30.00)

Parenting Guidance Center
Parenting classes are offered at no charge to the public. Topics for the second quarter of 2010 include anger management, building resiliency in children, the first year of your child's life, keeping your children safe, parenting after divorce, biblically-based parenting models, empowering our sons and daughters, the value of fathers, discipline and child management, and many more! **Dino-Might Tykes: Taking Control of Anger
This anger management course especially for children ages 3-6 teaches younger children postive ways to control anger through age-appropriate discussion, role play, and crafts.

Shaken Baby Syndrome Education
Presentations provide information to children and adults in Lubbock and the surrounding communities on the dangers of shaking a baby or small child.
