Child Abuse Prevention a Year-Long Mission

While the month of April, which is Child Abuse Prevention Month in Texas and across the nation, brings special attention to our mission, Family Guidance & Outreach Center of Lubbock works to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect throughout the year. In 2007, 223 children in Texas lost their lives due to abuse and neglect. Each April, we ask that you wear a blue ribbon to show your support of child abuse prevention and to honor the children of Texas who have died from abuse or neglect (Read the Story of the Blue Ribbon). During the rest of the year, we ask that you to continue to focus on ways to not only protect children from abusive environments, but to prevent that abuse from ever occurring.
