WELCOME TO OUR SITE

Family Guidance & Outreach Center of Lubbock, a non-profit organization located in Lubbock, Texas, is dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and to the education and support of parents and families. Volunteer Corner
Family Guidance & Outreach Center of Lubbock is always on the lookout for new volunteers! Volunteer hours worked on behalf of our agency in 2009 were the equivalent of the agency having two additional full-time staff members. We literally could not do what we do without our wonderful volunteers! We currently are seeking volunteers for both one-time projects and longer-term commitments. Whether you need just a few service learning volunteer hours or have resolved to incorporate regular volunteerism into your schedule in 2010, we would love to talk to you about volunteering at Family Guidance & Outreach Center of Lubbock! Please see the Volunteers page for more information on volunteer opportunities, or call Brooke at 806-747-5577.

Child Abuse Prevention a Year-Long Mission

While the month of April, which is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month in Texas, brings special attention to our mission, Family Guidance & Outreach Center of Lubbock works to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect throughout the year. In 2008, 220 children in Texas lost their lives due to abuse and neglect. Each April, we ask that you wear a blue ribbon to show your support of child abuse prevention and to honor the children of Texas who have died from abuse or neglect (Read the Story of the Blue Ribbon). During the rest of the year, we ask that you to continue to focus on ways to not only protect children from abusive environments, but to prevent that abuse from ever occurring.
